Welcome to the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy, in this section of the website you can find details of the Institute itself, its training courses, I won't go into to much detail here as all the information can be obtained by writing, phoning or emailing the ICHP Headquarters and requesting a free Prospectus and Demonstration audio cassette.

Your Course Instructor will be
Dr. Joseph Keaney Ph.D., D.Psych., Dip.C.Hyp., D.C.H., B.A.,.

Born in Cork, Dr Keaney holds a Batchelor's Degree in Clinical Hypnotherapy from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy (AIH). He completed his Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy through AIH. He is Director of the Irish Hypnotherapy Examiners Board and Course Director of the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy, Joe is also member in good standing of many professional hypnotherapy / psychotherapy associations. He is currently the Administrator of the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy Post-Graduate Association. In his private practice in Cork City, Dr. Keaney works as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Trainer, and also lectures in hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in the ICHP Advanced Diploma Programme in Griffith College Dublin, the Marino Institute of Education Dublin, and Therapy House in Cork City. He has over twenty years of practical experience in hypnosis with over 40,000 clinical inductions completed and probably the same again in workshops, conferences, talks, etc.

He Organised the first professional hypnotherapy conference in Ireland and is also a Founding Member of UKCHO United Kingdom Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations. He has undertaken training in England and the USA and is a regular speaker at conferences and on radio and television. Having trained hundreds of Hypnotherapists he is widely recognised as one of this country's leading instructors of clinical hypnosis.

Over the years, Joe has researched and listened to the problems of both new and veteran hypnosis practitioners around the country. In a strong voice they have indicated to him that after completing training with other schools they felt unsure of how to handle the many problems individuals come to a hypnotherapist / psychotherapist to resolve. They wanted and needed STEP BY STEP 'How to' instructions to create a success for the client and for themsleves. Because of this great need for simple, but highly effective and comprehensive training, Joe decided to place on tape and write up the finest, undiluted, pure hypnosis / psychotherapy training available today.

The Institute

The Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy was established by Dr. Joseph Keaney in 1990, to fill the evident need for comprehensive, contempory and structured training of Hypnotherapy / Hypnoanalysis. Due to the numbers of qualified graduate therapists from this Advanced Diploma Training Programme developed, a Post-Graduate Association of the ICHP was later created so as to keep therapists informed, protected, supervised and to give theapists in Ireland a unified voice.

The training programmes of the ICHP cover two aspects of hypnotherapy, namely Suggestion Therapy and Analytical Therapy. Although the foundation of the training is in Hypno/Psychotherapy, Analysis and Hypnotherapy which enables them to specialise in Hypnoanalytical Psychotherapy, the course encapsulates a myriad of therapeutic and psychotherapeutic modalities including, NLP, Parts Therapy, EFT, Past Life Regression, Visualisations, Transpersonal work, Gestalt, Ericksonian, etc. (Details of ICHP Training Programmes are discussed in another section of this site.)

Since its birth in 1990 the ICHP has grown considerably and we now have hundreds of ICHP graduates working in successful private practices around the country. The ICHP has developed international mirror organisation, namely, ICHP Sweden, ICHP Germany & ICHP Australia, but this is just the beginning ...

The Institute is affiliated and our trainings accredited to the National Council of Hypnotherapy N.C.H.(UK) and the United Kingdom Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations (UKCHO).
